Description

14ft Mersea Fisherman's Open Dinghy. A traditional wooden clinker sailing dinghy, MFOB, Class racing off Mersea Island Essex. She carries a full gaff rig with fixed bowsprit, transom stern.
Painted clinker construction with centreplate. Built by a Shipwright Johnny Milgate of Peldon, Essex
She has competed in the MFOB/ Winklebrig Fast Fleet achieving some good results. Kept ashore in sailing condition.

Construction

Painted clinker construction with wooden centreplate, she carries a gaff rig. This example was built by a Shipwright Johnny Milgate of Peldon, Essex.
Straight stem, transom stern.
Wooden tiller and rudder. All painted/ varnished inside and out.

Equipment

A Bailer, a portable manual pump.
2 x fixed whale bilge pumps, outlet through the transom.
Fitted overall weatherproof canvas cover.
Fender.  Tow/ mooring line.

Navigation Equipment

Tiller steering - Wooden tiller and extension. Wind vane for top of mast.
Wooden rudder blade , stainless steel fittings. Wooden centreplate.

Sails & Spars

Gaff Rig, a full racing rig.
mast stepped on the keel. small fixed bowsprit , gaff and boom, wooden spars varnished / painted.
White sails:  White  main sail with blue canvas main sail cover, extends over the spars.
No 1 Jib, No2 Jib both white, used condition.  
A red Spinnaker and alloy spinnaker pole.
Ratchet sheet blocks, Harken blocks. Main sheet block with jammer and swivel.
Vessel has been rigged out for racing. Coloured synthetic lines.  s/s wire standing rigging.
