26ft Nordic Folkboat, clinker wooden construction .Built by the renowned Shipwright of Brightlingsea, Cyril White in 1959.
A very simplw and practical vessel. easily handled , sea kindly manner with her long keel. Built and registered as a Nordic Folkboat although she hasn’t been measured for a modern certificate and thus sails as a British Folk boat. She has an RYA YTC Certificate.
She was restored in, 2015, An extensive undercover project taking her back to sound wood. Then epoxied inside and out. The mast was replaced, new rigging and a new suit of sails. Wooden boatbuilder Adrian Riva, inspected her in late 2023 and although many traditional boat builders are wary of epoxy, he confirmed that the work had been done well.
In 2024, she sailed up and down the East Coast, mostly without any engine assistance. She has also won races on the Rivers Blackwater and Orwell.
Ardroyal is out of the water, sat on a launching trolley, the mast, has been given a fresh coat of varnish ready for 2025, stored in mast rack.
